The Kornmarkt (grain market) has been Osteroder's centre since the 'old times'.

After a fire raged in 1826, on the south side (post) and in 1850 on the north side of the Kornmarkt (Grain Market), some buildings were rebuilt, slightly to the back, thus the marketplace got its present size.

A dominating building in the marketplace is the Rinnesche House.
This building has been used among other as the tavern 'Englischer Hof ' where Heinrich Heine spend the night during his Harz trip in 1824.

We cross the Kornmarkt until we reach the inner city ring, which encompasses the old town.

We follow the ring to the left and reach again the civic centre with the Schachtrupp villa.

Here, we end the walkabout and hope you had a bit of fun.
We like to hear from you if you have any suggestions, improvements or wishes.
