Community Hoerden

Community of the rural district Osterode, Harz

The village Hörden belongs together with Elbingerode, Wulften and Hattorf to the joined community Hattorf since 1972 and has ca. 1.150 citzens today.

Hörden is situated between Herzberg and Osterode at the western Harz edge. Hörden was first mentioned in the year 952. The pretty scenic environ is ideal for walks or extensive hikes.

The Harz with its numerous destinations can be reached fast from Hörden via a well developed road net. Even to the next railway station Herzberg is it only 5km. The county road Osterode is easily accessible via the main road 243.

Today's half-timbered church St. Nicolai in Hörden was finished in 1782.
A historical rarity is the altar in Hörden, which was renovated in 2001. During the work the oldest colour coating from 1780 was exposed resp. restored.
